Born and raised in the Hudson Valley, New
York Maria shares her passion for food and wine here at
Doukénie Winery as Tasting Room, Events Manager and resident
chef offering cooking classes to our Heritage Club.
Generations of culinary knowledge have been passed down to
her and she loves nothing more than to share this knowledge
and her food with friends, family and customers. With a
Business Degree and Overseas Academic Study Program in
Urbino, Italy Maria continues to visit her family in Tuscany
to hone her skills and education. She and her two children
and golden retriever live in MD. Some of her other passions
include; the outdoors in general, the sunshine, the beach,
hiking, travel, dance, art, music and coffee.

Nicola has a background in international
travel and goldsmithing. She has also spent many years in the
theater and music business both in Italy and in the Washington
DC area. Wine has always been a hobby, but has become a serious
interest since joining the team at Doukénie Winery in August
2010.

Wine Aficionado, Linda Meyerriecks, is
fundamental to Doukénie Winery’s philosophy and concept. She
brings her many skills from the publishing and educational
worlds, as well as her recent experience in learning to
become a Master Gardener.
A 38-year veteran of the National Geographic
Society, Linda Meyerriecks was Photo Editor for National
Geographic Traveler over the past eleven years. As one of the
Photo Editor team at Traveler, Linda was responsible for
defining the photographic vision of the magazine. While at
Traveler, she created and produced special issues, calendars,
and a reprint program. She solicited prizes for Traveler's
annual Photo Contests, was one of their judges, and continues to
judge for other contests, as well. Before Traveler, Linda was
Illustrations Editor on many large format books produced by the
Society, and also Art Director for National Geographic
promotions, as well as a layout assistant for National
Geographic Magazine.
Since her retirement from the National
Geographic Society in 2009, Linda started her own business at
www.photoshepherd.com,
offering her skills as Photo Editor, Advisor, Mentor, and
Curator to photographers (professional and emerging),
publishers, museums, and galleries. She continues to work under
contract for National Geographic Books, as Illustrations Editor
and Project Editor. She also offers workshops, and continues to
instruct the popular "Travel Magazine Photography Assignment"
class at the Maine Media Workshops where she has been teaching
for over eight years.
Linda was the Founder/Director of the
International Photography Workshops, which she directed in
Hawaii, Italy, Austria, and Belgium in the 1980’s.
She received her BFA at Pratt Institute.

Join Our Team
Wine Educator
Doukénie Winery is looking for talented energetic
people to help in the tasting room on the weekends.
Knowledge of wines is a plus but not a requirement.
Minimum of 2 shifts per month.
Must be 21
You will be given excellent training from our
winemaker Sébastien Marquet.
Successful candidates should have the following
capabilities:
- Enjoy working with people,
- Have an outgoing personality,
- Can lift and carry a case of wine (40Lbs)
We offer flexible scheduling (Saturdays, Sundays and
sometimes selected week days) and
competitive shift payments.
Work hours are from 11:30 AM to 6:00 PM
