What are your hours of operation?
We are open every day from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, except for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas day.
Do you need a photo ID to do a wine tasting or purchase wine?
Yes, we ask everyone for a photo ID to be sure we are abiding by the laws in Virginia. No one under the age of 21 is allowed to drink wine or liquor in the tasting room or anywhere on the property. We ask everyone to see their most current photo ID, so please present a valid, current ID prior to consuming wine on the Doukenie site.
Do we need an appointment for a wine tasting?
Yes, for groups of 8 or more, RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. Groups must reserve and prepay $15.00 per person for the wine tastings, by calling Bill, our Tasting Room Manage, at extension 203. Limos are welcome by appointment only.
Do you offer tours?
Yes, the second Saturday of every month at 11AM, “Vines to Wines” Tours are led by Bill Travis, CSW, and last 2 hours. Reservations and prepayment are required, by calling Bill, our Tasting Room Manager, at extension 203.
Are you family friendly?
Yes, Doukenie Winery is family friendly; however, no children under the age of 21 are allowed near the tasting room bar. We feel strongly that tasting wine is an adult activity and we ask that children remain in the constant supervision of accompanying adults. Children are welcome to play outside or quietly in the tasting room. Please respect the other adults at the winery if you do bring small children.
What is your food policy?
No outside food is permitted in the Tasting Room, Deck or Patio areas. We offer a wide variety of delicious gourmet foods for purchase.
Outside food is permitted in our picnic area ONLY.
Are you dog / pet friendly?
We are dog / pet friendly, but all animals must be on a leash and kept on our grass area by the pond. No animals are allowed in or around the Tasting Room, Deck or Patio area (other than certified service dogs). No pets are allowed in the tasting room due to health department food service regulations.
Can we bring beer or other alcohol?
No, ABC laws strictly prohibit alcoholic beverages other than Doukenie wines on the property during our normal business hours.
Is smoking allowed?
Smoking is strictly prohibited in the Tasting Room, deck, or patio areas. If you must smoke, please use the parking lot area.
Are you handicap accessible?
Yes, our facility is ADA compliant.
Can you bring your own music?
Unfortunately we are unable to allow personal sound systems on our grounds.
Can we swim or fish in the pond?
Swimming is strictly prohibited in the pond. Catch and Release fishing is allowed.
Do you take credit cards?
Yes, we accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
Do you ship wine?
Yes, we ship to many state in the United States. To see the full list, click here. Shipment must be signed by a person 21 years of age or older. Please see our Heritage Club page for further information.
Do you allow open and/or concealed carry?
Per Virginia state law § 18.2-308.012. “Prohibited conduct” you may NOT consume alcohol while carrying a concealed weapon, and our business policy also PROHIBITS alcohol consumption while carrying openly as well. This applies to private citizens as well as off-duty Federal, state and local law enforcement officers. If you want to enjoy our wines, please leave your weapon secured in your vehicle.
