Holiday Party Ideas
It’s been a tough year for businesses in Northern Virginia and Washington, DC the last few years, but each year local company executives want to thank and show their appreciation to their staff and teams for their hard work during the year. There are many places to choose when looking for a holiday party venue and there are many different kinds of holiday parties, from informal, family gatherings to black tie formals. Restaurants and hotels are the standard ‘go to’ places, but often event or meeting planners have to hire musicians and other activities to make the event fun and interesting.
But if you’re looking for something unique with an interactive component or learning element for your holiday party, think about Doukénie Winery. Once you’ve decided on a date and the estimated number of people, Maria Canora, the winery’s hospitality and special events manager, will meet with you and discuss which part of the estate would work best for your event. The tasting room, along with the barrel room downstairs, can hold up to 150 for a cocktail reception; the patio can also be tented and heated. To see all the options, click here.
Maria Canora, Doukénie Winery’s Hospitality and Special Events Manager, was awarded Visit Loudoun’s Tourism Management Award. As a client of Doukénie, you will work directly with Maria.
Of course, wine is what we do best here at Doukénie — your event would include at a minimum two glasses of any Doukénie wines, along with a wine educator that will pour all your bar needs. Our wine educators can do a formal wine tasting in small groups and a tour of facility can be added also. Wine tastings include six wines (2 whites, 3 reds and 1 dessert wine); during the tasting, the wine educator explains the characteristics of each wine, its growing pattern and why Doukénie wines are award-winning. The tour, about 10-15 minutes, discusses the wine making process at Doukénie.
Maria will help you choose flowers, music, linens, rental equipment, and caterers. If you need a special Santa Clause, she can help with that too. We’ve set up Secret Santas, cookie exchanges and grab bag events. Many corporations want to include community involvement during the holiday season. Maria and the team at Doukénie live in the area and are knowledgeable of local charities, Toys for Tots and children’s organizations. We can add that element too.
